“We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people."
--JFK, Remarks on the 20th Anniversary of the Voice of America. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. February 26, 1962

On December 10th, Michael King deftly and enthusiastically led the Altamont Choir in its annual Winter Concert, with this incarnation notably and deliberately global in its expression.  In a nod to both the Global Initiative and the global nature of the holidays, Mr. King and our singers explored the seasonal themes through songs from Europe, Africa, Hawaii, and the continental USA.  For just over an hour, our Cabaniss-Kaul Center for the Arts resounded with songs of joy, giving, hope, and tropical revelry!  Bravo to all of our performers for enriching our holidays with gorgeous songs, novel and familiar.
